One Hell Of A Day...

I hail from Calgary Alberta. This was going to be my first trip out to Waterton National Park - something I had been looking forward to for a while.

The day started out just great, off to Pincher Creek, met up with a few other fellow riders and off we went. Several hundred kilometers of spectacular scenery and mountain vistas --probably one of the most scenic rides on great, winding, twisty roads I've ever done.

On the way back from the far end of the park the exhilaration got the best of me. But over the hill and I had to hammer on the binders of the CBR 600 I was on. Red lights flashing. Busted by a Park Ranger STC!

Managed to slow it down to sixty miles per ....problem was the limit was 40mph. Well a smile and a "Sorry officer, my gauges read in km's only...." managed to get me just a warning...Pretty happy about that, actually!

I certainly slowed down the rest of the way through the park. At the exit gate, I ask them what time the US / CAN border crossing closes.  The one I wanted closed at 6 pm .. it was already 8 pm. I was going to have to ride an extra 100kms to get back to Pincher! So any how, it's starting to get dark; I'm a bit tired and annoyed by the fact that it's going to take another hour to get home.

Near the small town of Brockett, Alberta I start passing cars, clipping along pretty well, somewhere around 150-160 kmh.  I notice this car following me.  So I figure I would lose him, after all we know how annoying it is when someone's headlights are shining in your mirrors, right?

I keep going and this guy continues to follow me. I can't really seem to shake him. I figure I'm the rabbit for his speeding since he wants to make up some time as well.

I'm about five clicks from Pincher Creek where my truck and trailer are. I decide to slow down. There may be a likelihood of STCs around. As I make the turn into town, I notice out of the corner of my eye the car that has been following me since Brockett is a marked police car!!!!

50 yards down the road and three more police cars are waiting for me. When the lights go off it looks like Christmas! Busted again, I pull over, nowhere to run....

An officer walks over and says, "You know why we're pulling you over???"
I shrug and reply, "Speeding perhaps???"
"Actually you passed an off duty police officer about 40 miles back in Brocket, said he had a hell of a time keeping up with you!!"
I figured that was a good time to complain about his lights in my eyes...

I'm thinking I've lost my license, I'm going to spend the night in jail etc.  But it turns out the cop following me didn't have radar! I get a $100 fine for passing on a double yellow and then they send me on my way.

Sure did make for one hell of a day!!!
