I rarely get tickets (this was the 1st in many years), but managed to snag a speed trap in the
middle of nowheresville (Hwy 33 between Rock Creek and Kelowna, DH7), on a totally straight piece of road with perfect surface and acres of field on
either side of the road...in perfect daytime conditions. Two officers, two cars!
They had a radar gun setup in a private driveway. It turns out I was doing more than
10 over...I must have been doing more than that because the amount of the ticket was in the 'next' category ($173).
I was so mad at the time that I
guess I didn't notice half of what the guy said. I was waiting to see if it was a warning or a ticket...then I was planning my speech. When he
handed me the ticket and I saw it was a fine, I let the two of them know exactly how I
felt. I shared my thoughts with them....you might say. A nicely worded 2 minute tirade...as calmly as possible...but with gusto.
I covered topics
such as Cash Grab, Political, Nothing to do with Safety...and ended with, "you should be ashamed of yourselves". Funny, didn't seem to help
though....but it did wipe that pretentious smile off the one asshole's face. The guy operating the radar gun is a neighbor. The only thing I ever see him
do is run that gun.
The part that really steams me is I have to (over) pay these people with my
tax dollars to keep the roads safe from myself....and then get to keep on paying while they luxuriate in retirement.
$173! Bizarre. I will contest this on principal alone.
