"The law’s an ass!" You gotta like the credo
of the flimflam men and hurdy-gurdy girls of the gold rush era. It’s an
individualistic attitude that survives in the Cariboo, even today. In fact, if you happen to
see another rider on this remote dead-ender to the tiny town of Likely,
chances are she’ll be aboard a Moto Guzzi. This DH, a vein of black gold,
plunges deep into the heart of this historic country-- a large plateau of
forest, rangeland and lakes lying east of the Fraser River and west of the
Cariboo Mountains. A decently engineered amalgam of spacious curves and
unconstrained straightaways, this find has much in common with the bonanza
of other great roads in this region. And since the speed tax collectors find
easier, more plentiful marks running their radar scam along Hwy 97, this DH
just might make you feel like defying a few government regulations yourself.
You rebel, you.
