Peace and quiet. That’s what attracts people to the
gently lapping, turquoise waters of Green Lake, set amid the whispering
aspen. But for two-wheeled cognoscenti, it’s the strip of pavement winding
along those waters that provides the real reason for coming here. Variable
in terms of pavement and engineering, this flat, scenic connector between
Hwy 97 and DH45 lingers
long beside the lake before shifting north into the forest and ranchland
south of Lone Butte. Considering the number of resorts, dude ranches and
campgrounds that populate this road, the people of the pylon are barely in
evidence, presumably huddled somewhere over a heart-gripping game of
cribbage. And if, perchance, they find the delicate note of our Supertrapps
disturbing, well, we’ve got some spare earplugs.
