The best part of winter may be discovering a ski hill
road you can come back to in the summer and bike. Riding this rarely
straight and often scenic DH can be like shredding fresh, deep powder. And
unlike most ski hill roads, this one doesn’t make you come back down the
same way. Green Mountain Road is a two-part DH: a smoothly paved 20.0 km
(12.6 mi) stretch from Penticton winding through the fair countryside up to
the Apex Alpine turn off; and a not-so-well paved 14.2 km (8.9 mi) leg back
and forth down a narrowing valley to the west end of DH63. If you like, you can
also take the twisty black diamond TE, which hairpins up through the
sub-alpine forest to the ski hill itself. Have a good run.
